Sri Rama Navami - Greeting Card Designs, Wishes and Wallpapers

Ram Navami occurs in the month of March. Celebrations at temples begin with a prayer to the Sun early in the morning. At midday, when Lord Rama is supposed to have been born, a special prayer is performed. In North India, there is a procession featuring a well-decorated chariot in which four people are dressed as Rama, his brother Laxman, his queen Sita and his disciple Hanuman. The chariot is accompanied by several people dressed in ancient costumes. The procession continues with the participants shouting praises that evoke the happy days of Rama's reign.
This year, Sri Rama Navami was celebrated on April 8, 2014. It celebrates the birth of Lord Rama, who was born in Ayodhya to King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya. Rama Navami is one of the oldest and most important festivals among Hindus. On this auspicious day, devotees repeat the name of Rama with every breath and vow to lead a righteous life.
Those who have adopted Lord Rama as their favorite deity observe a fast, consuming only milk and fruit for all nine days. Some fast only on Ram Navami itself. Temples are decorated with flower garlands. The holy book 'Ramayana' is read in many temples. In Ayodhya, the birthplace of Sri Rama, a big fair is held on this day. In South India, the "Sri Ramnavami Utsavam" is celebrated for nine days with great fervor and devotion.
From four in the morning until late at night, devotional music and chants of Rama are played. In temples and at pious gatherings, many people narrate episodes from the 'Ramayana'.
Sri Ramnavami occurs at the beginning of summer.  Rama is also known by several names, such as Raghunatha, Raghupati and Raghavendra. The hour chosen for the observance of the Lord's birth is when the sun is overhead and at its brightest (11 a.m. - 1 p.m.). The chants of Rama are loudest during the noon session at many temples. This is related to sun worship.
